Channel 10 sport journalist Rob Waters is the new chairman of the Kyneton Football Netball Club.
Waters was appointed chairman of the embattled clubon Wednesday night, replacing Cello Matricardi.
Waters, who moved to Kyneton with his wife and two children 18 monthsago, said he was excited about the challenge of turning around the Tigers’ fortunes.
“The steering committee at Kyneton approached me about joining the club and I’m delighted to be on board,” Waters said.
A player shortage forced Kyneton to withdraw itssenior team from this year’s Bendigo Football Netball League competition.
The Tigers are fielding reserves and under-18 teams and Waters was adamantthe club would have asenior side in 2014.
“The Kyneton Football Netball Club is alive and well and as a group we are determined to make sure the club is successful in the future,” Waters said.
Waters has worked in the media for more than 20 years. He’s Channel 10’s chief AFL reporter and calls games for Melbourne radio station SEN alongside former Kyneton coach Nathan Thompson.
