KI Sport – Netball – Defence dominates in one-goal win

A Grade

Western Districts 38 dParndana 37

Sunny conditions at Parndana. The A grade game was a tightly defended hour of netball, the lead changed several times and the largest margin was three goals. Western Districts being the winners by one goal. Verity (WD) and Tracy (P) both played well showing the youngsters how it’s done.

A Grade

Dudley United 49 d Wisanger 41

Wisanger scoring the first goal in the very windy conditions. Very even play for the first quarter going goal for goal.

A nervous start for Gen (W),

scoring her first goal late in the quarter. Wisanger up by two at quarter time. A nice steady quarter saw DU settle in the second quarter to be up by two at the half-time break. Julie (DU) and Tash (DU) combining well in goals to further the lead in the third quarter. Maddie (DU) and Eloise (DU) rebounding and intercepting many Wisanger passes. Jane (W) struggling to find the goal ring in the windy conditions.

A great game to watch with even play for most of the game. DU winning by eight goals.

B Grade

Parndana 41 d Western Districts 32

First quarter evenly contested. Strong defence from both sides. Parndana goalies were very accurate.

Both sides made positional changes at the beginning of second quarter. Sharon Gaskin (P) came off injured and Parndana had to resettle. Western Districts very persistant defences. Fast, accurate passing in the centre by both sides. Parndana maintaining the lead. Parndana finished strongly.

C Grade

Parndana Red 53 d Parndana White 38

Clash of the experienced and young Parndana teams. Strong first half by Parndana White saw them leading by four at half time. Positional changes by Parndana Red saw them steady to win easily at full time. Strong in attack for Parndana Red was Lorraine Huxtable with Cherie Kuchel fighting all game for Parndana White.

Wisanger 46 dWestern Districts 27

Wisanger combining well as a team with Kristy Turner not missing goals & good backing up by Emma Stapleton. Caitlyn Groves giving 100% effort at GD for (WD), a strong defensive game. Nicki Jones youth an advantage at C for (W). Lee Watters and Janine Mauheni for (WD) and Kristy Turner (W) controlling mid court. WD making positional changes throughout court, putting Elsa Jones into C, Tessa Shalay into WA and Janinie Mauheni into goals. Wisanger’s long arms of Shalene Noble doing damage to WD goalies, April Larcombe trying hard. The reach of Isobel Benney putting some pressure on Wisanger goalies.

All girls played well and in good spirits. Well umpired by Annie Morris and Phoebe Jones.

D Grade

Kingscote 43 d Wisanger 21

A sunny but very windy day greeted Wisanger and Kingscote as they lined up against each other out at Dudley, Kingscote first on the scoreboard with three quick goals. Wisanger taking longer to settle in the blustery conditions before scoring its first goal.

Both teams had quite a few turnovers with Kingscote outscoring Wisanger to be seven up at quarter time.

Wisanger made changes with Jenn Child coming on in mid court, Kingscote still scoring well despite the wind with Wisanger goalies having a harder time. Half-time saw Kingscote still in control with a seven-goal lead.

Wisanger making changes again in the break saw them put in a better quarter of netball, Last quarter and although Wisanger were still down on the scorecard they didn’t give up and kept chasing hard till the end. Kingscote too strong on the day and comfortable winners.

Kingscote goalies Carlie Johnston and Jacinta Lasscock shot well all game. Wisanger goalies Caitlin Connell and Anthea Ness tried hard all game. Alana Hinton strong in defence for Kingscote, with Anna Osman. Wisanger defenders Natalie Iasanzaniro and Claire Mincham worked hard all game. Mikayla West and Janet Wickham a good tussle in centre.

D Grade

Western Districts 43 d Parndana 15

Western Districts came out fighting in the first half with great defence from Sarah Were (WD). Parndana lacked in height but that didn’t dampen their spirits, with great movement in the attack end.

Jen Trethewey (P) kept the pressure on, in the centre court along with Alia Beaumont (WD).

Fantastic game by both teams but Western Districts came away with a convincing win.

Well done to all.
