TheYass Redbacks began their season last Saturday at home against the GungahlinWhite Tails. Unfortunately, Yass could not open their season with a win, goingdown 5-2 at Walker Park. New recruits Zoe Tritschler, Shyhiem Williams, HeathBuffington and Harmish Hunter proved their value to the team. Yass was thefirst to score, when Jacob Garner made a break down field to drive the ballpast the White Tails goalkeeper for the early lead. Yass was unlucky not toscore again, when Bryce Battye had a good shot on goal saved by the keeper.This sparked the White Tails into action and they scored four unanswered goalsby half time to lead 4-1.

Thesecond half was a much more even affair. Ben Luck, Cal Morgan and Zac Enseleitwere playing strongly now and, with good lead up work, Jacob Garner slotted hissecond for the match. Noa Planten was strong in goal and overall the Redbackscan be proud of their efforts against a well drilled Gungahlin team.

TheYass Soldiers Club Redbacks kicked off their season with a convincing win overthe Brindabella Falcons, 8-3.

Thegame was barely 15 minutes old and Yass had dashed to a 4-0 lead through goalsto Brendon Scanes (2), Tim Hazell and Brad Nielson.

TheRedbacks continued to apply pressure, which resulted in goals to Cameron Hilljust before half time, another goal to Tim and two more to Brendon. The key wasthe creative passing by our midfielders Tim Hazell, Richard Alley, BradNielson, Nick Pilbrow, Cameron Hill, Jayson Young and Adam Minary-Bland. Theycreated plenty of chances for our strikers Robby Furner and Brendon. Whencalled upon our defence was very good, with Hayden Starr leading the way andably assisted by Luke McReynolds, Kris Hansson and Darcy Coughlan in goal. Ournewcomers to the team this year Nick Pilbrow, Cameron Hill and Kris Hansson allplayed strongly.

TheYass Soldiers Club Redbacks started their season in high spirits, welcoming newteam members. The girls kicked off the game in a very convincing way,dominating possession in the first half of the game to lead 1-0 at oranges. Inthe second half, the girls lost concentration for a moment and they let Majurascore. They regrouped and tightened their defence and it wasn’t long beforethey were rewarded with a second goal. The girls continued to play in apositive way, taking numerous shots on goal and eventually finished with a 3-1win.
