Searchers looking for a man missing since the weekend have found one of the two dogs they believe could have been with him when he went missing.
A Jack Russell belonging to Wayne Coughlan was found about 7am on Thursday in Peninsular Road, Bridgetown.
Police resources from Boyup Brook, Manjimup and Bridgetown, together with SES volunteers are now searching the area in which the dog was found. It is an area that had previously been covered by searchers.
Police were alerted about 8.15pm Saturday after a friend could not find Mr Coughlan at his home.
Walking tracks in bushland surrounding Bridgetown have been targeted as he is known to take his two dogs walking in bushland around the town.
This is the first significant find in the search.
While there was a possible sighting of Mr Coughlan on Thursday, May 2, in Bridgetown, this has not been confirmed so police fear he has been missing for some time.
Mr Coughlan was described as being fair-skinned, approximately 170 centimetres tall, of slim build, with short grey hair and is usually seen wearing a wide brimmed hat.
Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately on 131 444 or the Bridgetown Police Station directly on 9761 1666.Follow WAtoday on Twitter
